Los Angeles, CA – The 27th ranked Occidental Men's Tennis team went up against number three Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday and battled hard before coming up short and losing 8-1. In the matchup of nationally ranked conference opponents, Claremont proved to be too much winning two of the three doubles matches and sweeping the singles matches.
In doubles play, seniors Matthew O'Connor and Seth Lipe picked up the Tigers lone win of the day, fighting off two match points at 6-7 30-40 and ultimately defeating the number one duo from CMS 8-7(5). In singles play, the Tigers hung tough on all courts but were unable to pull out any victories. First-year Ace Andres took his match at number three singles to three sets before falling in the super tiebreaker 6-4,2-6,10-4.
