Los Angeles, CA – The 27th ranked Occidental Men's Tennis Team knocked off conference rival and 33rd ranked Chapman University 6-3 on Saturday. Senior Matthew O'Connor, currently ranked 2nd in the West Region, won his match at number one singles against the 3rd ranked player in the West Region 6-4,6-3 to clinch the win for the Tigers.
The Tigers started out taking two of the three doubles matches with O'Connor and Seth Lipe winning 8-4 at number one doubles and Ronald Chen and Ace Andres winning 8-6 at number two doubles.
In singles play, the Tigers picked up convincing wins at numbers one, three, four, and five singles to seal the team victory. Ace Andres won 6-1,6-1 at number three singles, Michael Abagyan won 6-4,6-1 at number four singles, and Sam Coan won 6-2,6-0 at number five singles for the Tigers.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 11-4 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. They return to action on Saturday April 8th at Whittier College.
