Tigers Travel to Azusa to Compete in APU's Last Chance Meet

Azusa, CA – The Occidental track and field team athletes had the opportunity to compete against other outstanding athletes and professionals. The Tigers rose to the occasion and managed to earn some season and lifetime bests. 

On the women's side, Emma Watkins became the fastest 100m sprinter with a new collegiate best of 13.03. Watkins also beats her 200m collegiate best that she set at the Oxy Invite (26.85). Ciara Gillen became the fastest 1500m runner with a 5 second PR (4:46.72). Jenna Lenay also PR'd in 1500m, beating her old time by 11 seconds and placing third in her heat (4:52.79).

Nick Martin had a huge PR in the 200m (22.34) that placed him third in his heat. Nick Leon and Jack Spencer also had outstanding PRs that placed them second and third in their heat, respectively. Leon ran a 22.70 and Spencer was closely behind with a 22.74. Amir Barkan ran a season's best 1500m time of 3:55.46 which placed him first in his heat. 

The Tigers' last competition of post-season will take place at Redlands University for the Redlands Last Chance meet on Wednesday and Thursday, May 17 and 18.
